Choosing a new floor is best done step by step.

Some of the thinking behind each step that might help you is;

  • What is the room used for? Is it, as we say, ‘high traffic’ like an entrance lobby or hallway? Here a wooden floor might be an alternative to carpet.
  • Bathrooms and kitchens are areas where solid floors can cope with the wear and wetness and be a wipe clean surface if required.
  • Once the type of covering is settled the choice of colour is probably next. Do you want the room to appear lighter and larger? Are you trying to achieve a cosy feeling to emphasis the shape and feel of the room? Colour and pattern can be used to draw the flooring into the overall scheme and divide up areas you want to highlight. .
